A method for teaching Hungarian grammar at university: the study group


Abstract: 
The current research aims to explore the effectiveness of a possible method of learning first language grammar at university: the study group. The research analyses the grades of the students with Hungarian majors from the university of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) gained on the exams of the subject of Hungarian grammar from the sessions of the years 2012/2013 to the sessions of the years 2017/2018. The paper presents the evaluation of a questionnaire about the attitude towards the study group, the grades gained before and after the study group among its participants. The research shows that the study group is a developing method of learning Hungarian grammar at university and it also contributes to the change of attitude of students towards the subject and helps to reduce the university drop-out.
